She also added a black widow spider icon on her chest, which is the most literal she's ever used; typically it's a stylistic red design that looks like an hourglass . There are 42 officially recognized black widow species, so you’ll find great variety in this group of animals alone. The redback spider is only one of those species, and it’s the one that lives in Australia and Asia.

Even though they’re not deadly, it is an unpleasant experience to be bitten by one of these two spiders. While the female Black Widow is instantly recognizable, the male Black Widow is rarely seen or rarely correctly identified. It’s best to avoid all areas of the house or garden where you see a Black Widow. It’s best to stay clear of these areas and let exterminators deal with them.

It is Natasha who later comes to Doom's rescue when he is horribly burned by Thor's lightning & the accompanying discharge of Blake's golden sphere. Black Widow uses a variety of equipment invented by Soviet scientists and technicians, with later improvements by S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists and technicians. She wears a belt of metallic discs; some are disc-charges containing plastic explosives, while others have been shown to be compartments for housing other equipment.

In females of the southern black widow, Latrodectus mactans, the hourglass marking has both parts of the hourglass connected. In the comic books, Black Widow wears a belt around her hips made of a series of gold disks, the center one having an hourglass engraved into it. The bottom one, around her hips, is attached to two gun holsters on her thighs, and the top one has a red hourglass buckle, with black utility pouches. You'll have all eyes on you at the costume party when you show up wearing this Black Widow Dress Costume.

10 Love: Ultimate Iron Widow

While the name black widow is accepted worldwide, there are slight varieties in these spiders that are found around the world. However, the legs of the female are different from the legs of the male. Female Black Widow legs are black and shorter about the body. Male legs are longer compared to the body size and normally of brown color. These are sometimes found in the shape of red dots forming a vertical line along the body. When the male spider doesn’t have red dots on the body it normally has dark brown spots instead.

When her employers learned the truth, the KGB had her gunned down, sending her to a hospital, convincing Hawkeye to go straight and seek membership in the Avengers. The KGB arranged a marriage between Natasha and the renowned Soviet test pilot Alexei Shostakov. However, when the Soviet government decided to make Shostakov into their new operative, the Red Guardian, he is told that he can have no further contact with his wife. Natasha is told that he died and is trained as a secret agent separately.

FYI – the belt isn’t included but it can be bought separately. One of Alexei’s simplest tattoos is the pair of eyes that can be found on his chest. It is clear that Alexei still followed the careers of his girls from prison, since was excited about Yelena’s success as an assassin and Natasha’s career as Black Widow with the Avengers.

The black widow, on the other hand, is distributed mainly throughout North America, which is also one of the main differences between the two. She wears no costume during her first few appearances but simply evening wear and a veil. Romanova eventually defects to the U.S. for reasons that include her love for the reluctant-criminal turned superhero archer, Hawkeye. Another example of 90s excess is the costume Black Widow wore in the revived Journey Into Mystery. This look featured in issue #517 from 1998 and gets a bit crazy with the armored shoulder pads and bracelets. A full suit of armor might work for the character in the context of a single story in an alternate universe, but otherwise, it makes a silent spy and assassin easy to spot.

Yelena finds Songbird and reveals to her that she was really Natasha Romanova in disguise. She tries delivering Songbird to Fury but the Thunderbolts have also followed them. The trio are captured as Osborn reveals he had been impersonating Fury in messages all along to set Natasha up in order to strengthen the Thunderbolts and lead him to Fury. She and Songbird are brought to be executed but manage to escape when Ant-Man, Headsmen, and Paladin turn on the rest of the Thunderbolts and let them go. She was assigned to assist Boris Turgenov in the assassination of Professor Anton Vanko for defecting from the Soviet Union, which served as her first mission in the United States.

Aside from the arcs in Marvel Fanfare and Journey into Mystery, the Black Widow has starred in four limited series and four graphic novels. She starred in a three-issue arc, "The Fire Next Time", by writer Scott Lobdell and penciller Randy Green, in Journey into Mystery #517–519 (Feb.–April 1998).
